I serve a MIGTHY GOD. I’m lying in a hospital bed, ailing from a sickness that should frighten me, but He assures me no matter the outcome, it’s for His honour and glory.

I’m in the same hospital where my father died last year. Reflecting on how days from now last year, we would get news that He would not make it, and my dad’s response was “Don’t tell the Lord what to do”. A friend I’ve known all my life reminded me of just days ago (before my ailment and hospitalization).

I’m jobless. Last year, the day after we found out my dad was going to pass away, I got laid off from a job I loved. I don’t know where my mortgage is going to come from now that the severance is used and the job market is as bad as it is at the moment, but my Lord assures me to seek Him first.

I’ve been thankful. The Lord gave me time with my dad. Time to help my mom after her surgery, and most importantly, time with Him. I’ve been studying the word more than I have ever done in my life. I have been attending conferences and helping by streaming them for those who can’t make it when there is no other means of doing so. I’ve been helping at my local assembly and am involved.

I woke up in this hospital bed in the middle of the night, and I know I’m here with a purpose, and until I serve it, I’ll be here. This does not scare me. This motivated me to write this.

I look at my email, only to find that an elderly sister in Christ who was at the conference I was at most recently e-transfered me some money with a note, “Praying for a job, Your sister…”. She doesn’t know my situation. She just knows I’m out of work. I didn’t do much as even say hello to her at the conference, but MY Lord impressed on her heart to send me something in my time of need at a time when I can’t work if I wanted to.

I broke down crying so loud my mom, who decided to sleep in a chair next to me in the hospital wakes up probably thinking I’m crying cause I’m here. No, I’m crying cause the God I serve is greater than my circumstances. He is greater than my sickness, greater than my unemployment, greater than my fears, my doubts, greater than ALL.

The God who supplied salvation through HIMSELF once again had shown He cares for me. The one who did not wait till I asked for forgiveness provided it on the cross and provides still in my time of need, during a low point. That is the God I serve, and I don’t serve Him for these blessings. I serve Him because He deserves all the honour, glory and praise for who He is.

Amen
